News World’s First Zero Carbon Supermarket
Pinnacle worked alongside client Tesco, to build the world’s first zero carbon supermarket in the Cambridgeshire town of Ramsey. Over the course of a year the net CO2 emissions from its electricity, gas, and refrigerant use will be zero.
A range of eco-systems were used in this project, including an e-foundation which saw soil removed to clay level and then reformulated by mixing it with lime to improve its stability rating – this technique reduces the volume of material dumped off site and cuts the need to import fill from faraway quarries. These innovations are expected to see the building reach BREEAM ‘excellent’ energy rating.
Pinnacle is extremely proud to have worked on such an innovative and environmentally inspiring building.
