London to Paris Cycle Challenge

Congratulations are in order as 10 determined individuals from Pinnacle successfully completed the 328 mile London to Paris bike challenge in aid of charity “Action Medical Research” - “the charity saving and changing children’s lives”.

The team endured a gruelling four day route through picturesque villages and medieval market towns in Northern France featuring tough terrain and strenuous hill climbs.  Efforts were paid off by riding down the Champs-Elyéses to the finish line, the day before the Tour de France, for a well deserved glass of champagne!  The team raised a staggering £22,631.20 for the charity.

World’s First Zero Carbon Supermarket

Pinnacle worked alongside client Tesco, to build the world’s first zero carbon supermarket in the Cambridgeshire town of Ramsey. Over the course of a year the net CO2 emissions from its electricity, gas, and refrigerant use will be zero.

A range of eco-systems were used in this project, including an e-foundation which saw soil removed to clay level and then reformulated by mixing it with lime to improve its stability rating – this technique reduces the volume of material dumped off site and cuts the need to import fill from faraway quarries. These innovations are expected to see the building reach BREEAM ‘excellent’ energy rating.

Pinnacle is extremely proud to have worked on such an innovative and environmentally inspiring building.

Strengthening our 3D modelling

Pinnacle has recently invested in 3 additional Licences of Tekla Structures to strengthen our 3D Frame modelling capabilities, which we are currently implementing throughout the majority of our projects.

Tekla Structures is a multi-material 3D modelling software package which allows us to work collaboratively with the Project Team. Output from this delivers information at an early stage of the design process, including a fully detailed structural frame which traditionally does not become available until much later in the process.

Other benefits include a detailed material quantity report to assist in ascertaining cost and further opportunities throughout the construction planning process.
